Short answer: most life and final expense agents need three things: a quoting and underwriting tool, a CRM with a dialer, and AI that cuts admin. For independent agents, Insurance Toolkits ($39.99 a month) handles quoting and underwriting for term, final expense and Medicare supplement. Pair it with Ringy, a CRM and dialer from $119 a month whose AI tools are just +$10. Agencies with several producers, commissions to track and life, health and Medicare books should look at AgencyBloc, which added AI client snapshots and voicemail follow-ups in 2026.

How we compared. We read Ringy's and Insurance Toolkits' pricing, AgencyBloc's pricing page and June 2026 AI announcement, and Insurance Business' coverage of the 2026 Agency Universe Study (checked October 13, 2026). We haven't used these tools ourselves. Our method.

How agents are using AI in 2026

AI use has jumped among independent agencies. The 2026 Agency Universe Study from the Big "I" found 46% of independent agencies use AI, up from 15% in 2024. The top uses are marketing content (49%), coverage form analysis (43%) and contract review (35%). The biggest barriers are not knowing what AI can do (60%) and security and privacy concerns (48%) (Insurance Business). The study covers independent P&C and multiline agencies, not life-only agents, but the pattern is similar: AI is mostly helping with writing, follow-up and admin, not selling the policy.

1. Ringy: best CRM and dialer with AI

Price:

  • Base plan: $119/month: CRM, cloud phone, lead management, drip automation and reporting
  • Included usage: 1,000 minutes and 1,000 texts a month, rolling over. After that, outbound calls and texts are 1¢ each. Inbound calls and texts are free, and local numbers are $1 a month.
  • Power Dialer: +$70/month: unlimited minutes, call recording, voicemail drops, coaching
  • AI Tools: +$10/month: AI-suggested replies and tone and clarity help
  • Call Scripting: +$10/month: AI-assisted script writing

There's a free trial (Ringy pricing).

Best for: agents working purchased leads by phone who want a simple CRM and dialer, with cheap AI help on replies and scripts. A fully loaded setup (base + dialer + AI + scripting) is about $209 a month plus usage.

Watch for: power dialers, recorded calls and voicemail drops are exactly where TCPA and state recording rules bite. See below.

2. Insurance Toolkits: best quoting and underwriting

Price: $39.99 a month for an individual, with unlimited use of the quoter, underwriter, CRM and lead platform. The Agency plan is $119.99 for 5 agents, then $29.99 per extra agent. Both start with a free trial (Insurance Toolkits).

What it does: quotes final expense, term, Medicare supplement and ancillary products (dental, vision, hearing, hospital indemnity), with an underwriting tool that checks health conditions and medications against carrier guidelines. Its site doesn't advertise AI. We include it because fast, accurate quoting is the core of a life agent's day, and AI tools sit around it.

3. AgencyBloc: best for life and health agencies

Price: custom. AMS+ comes in Grow, Accelerate and Elevate tiers. Commissions+ is priced by transaction volume and Quote+ by groups quoted. It's built for independent agencies and uplines (IMOs, FMOs, GAs) in life, health, Medicare and group benefits (AgencyBloc pricing).

AI (announced June 30, 2026):

  • Client Snapshot (beta): on-demand summaries of a client's record
  • Voicemail Activity Generator (beta, Elevate and Scale plans): reads voicemails and suggests a next step for the agent to confirm
  • Ask AMS+ (alpha): plain-language search of your agency data

AgencyBloc says outputs are traceable, client data stays private and agents keep control of every decision (AgencyBloc).

Best for: agencies juggling commissions, multiple producers and mixed life, health and Medicare books.

Compliance: where life agents get into trouble with AI

  1. Dialers and AI voice: autodialed and AI-voice calls need prior express consent, and the FCC treats AI-generated voices as "artificial." Read AI voice calls and the TCPA and what changed when the one-to-one consent rule was vacated.
  2. Call recording: some states require all-party consent. Announce recordings.
  3. AI-written marketing: check it against carrier and state advertising rules before it goes out, and never let AI make product recommendations on its own.
  4. Human review: states are increasingly requiring people, not AI, to make adverse insurance decisions (AI claim-denial laws). Keep a licensed person accountable for every recommendation.

FAQ

What's the best AI tool for life insurance agents?

For most solo agents: a quoting tool (like Insurance Toolkits) plus a CRM with AI writing help (like Ringy). Agencies should consider an AMS with built-in AI, like AgencyBloc.

Can AI call leads for me?

AI voice tools exist, but AI-generated voice calls are regulated under the TCPA and require proper consent. Most agents use AI for follow-up writing and summaries, not autonomous calling.

Is AI replacing life insurance agents?

No. BLS projects insurance sales agent jobs to grow. See will AI replace insurance agents?
