Short answer: for most independent RIAs, Wealthbox has the most built-in AI right now: an AI Assistant, background agents, playbooks and an optional AI Notetaker ($49 per user per month introductory), on top of plans from $59 per user per month. Redtail is the cheapest ($39 per user per month billed yearly) and the long-time industry standard, but its AI is thin. Salesforce Financial Services Cloud offers the deepest AI (Agentforce) and customization, but starts at $325 per user per month, so it's built for larger firms.

1. Wealthbox: best built-in AI for independent RIAs

Price (per user per month):
- Basic $59: contacts and households, tasks, one pipeline, calendar
- Pro $75: adds workflows and automations, two-way email sync, broadcast email
- Premier $99: adds custom dashboards and workspaces
The AI Notetaker is a paid add-on at an introductory $49 per user per month, and there's a 14-day free trial (Wealthbox pricing).
AI: in March 2026, Wealthbox launched three AI features in early access (PLANADVISER):
- an AI Assistant that answers questions about clients and pipelines, drafts personalized communications and prepares meeting briefs, and asks you to confirm before it acts
- Agents that run in the background, such as a daily list of client touchpoints
- Playbooks: saved prompts for workflows like new-client onboarding
Kitces notes that many of these automate things that already existed as non-AI workflows. Kitces also reports Wealthbox's argument that AI belongs inside the system of record for audit and compliance purposes (Kitces).
Watch for: the AI Assistant's price isn't listed on the pricing page, and the Notetaker price is introductory. Confirm what you'll pay at renewal.
2. Redtail: best value
Price:
- Launch: $39 per user per month billed yearly ($45 monthly), up to 5 users
- Growth: $59 ($65 monthly) with unlimited users, adding document imaging (200 GB), workflows and Speak compliant texting (subject to broker-dealer approval)
- Enterprise: custom, with a minimum license commitment
New users can trial Growth free (Redtail pricing).
AI: the pricing page lists an "AI Assistant" under Speak on Growth but doesn't describe it. Kitces reported in April 2026 that Redtail hadn't announced in-house AI notetaking or agent features, and that it may gain AI through parent company Orion's platform, most useful for firms that also use Orion (Kitces).
Best for: price-conscious firms that will add AI through a separate notetaker. Zocks lists Redtail among its CRM integrations, and Jump lists 40+ integrations (our notetaker comparison).
3. Salesforce Financial Services Cloud: best for large firms
Price (per user per month, billed annually):
- Core $325: includes "Flex credits" for AI, Agentforce, Slack and data
- Advanced $500: more AI, automation and security
- Max $700: the full Agentforce for Industries suite
Sales and Service editions are priced the same (Salesforce pricing).
Best for: larger RIAs, broker-dealers and enterprises with admins or implementation partners to configure it. For a small independent firm, Core costs more than five times Wealthbox Basic.
AI in your CRM: compliance checklist
- Recordkeeping: AI-drafted emails, meeting summaries and texts may be business communications you must retain (AI notetakers and SEC/FINRA recordkeeping).
- Vendor oversight: CRMs hold client data. Review AI vendors under Regulation S-P.
- Supervision: agents that act automatically need supervision and testing. FINRA's 2026 oversight report addresses AI agents directly.
