What happened: at its IMPACT conference on October 28, 2026, Schwab Advisor Services announced new AI tools for the more than 17,000 independent RIAs that custody with it (Schwab via Yahoo Finance):
- Claude for Financial Advisors, Anthropic's advisor-specific version of Claude, can now pull Schwab Advisor Center data through an authenticated connection. Schwab calls itself the first RIA custodian to offer it.
- Ester, an AI tax and estate planning assistant from Wealth.com, is now in Schwab Advisor Center, free until February 2027.
- Nevis, an AI operations platform, is now a Schwab partner and investment, starting with client onboarding.
Why it matters: until now, using a general AI assistant on client work meant exporting data from your custodian and pasting it in. Now Claude can read your Schwab accounts, positions and history directly. That saves time, but it also means client data flows to an AI provider, which brings in Regulation S-P, recordkeeping and supervision.
What each tool does

| Claude for Financial Advisors | Ester (Wealth.com) | Nevis | |

Ester's guardrails: Schwab says Ester's core tax and estate calculations use rules-based engines, its legal and tax facts come from verified sources, and it won't answer questions outside tax and estate planning. Advisors review every output before acting on it. Note that Schwab has been a minority investor in Wealth.com since April 2025, and it has also invested in Nevis.
Claude for Financial Advisors keeps growing
Anthropic launched Claude for Financial Advisors in September with 11 connectors. On October 27 it doubled that to 22, adding connections for CRM, custodian, portfolio reporting, planning, estate and meeting-capture tools (PYMNTS, Wealth Solutions Report).
One of the new partners is Jump, the AI meeting notetaker, which added seven workflows (FinTech Global):
- week in review
- client commitments
- decision log
- meeting recap
- meeting history
- recap email drafts
- document lookup
Jump's connector is read-only and follows each user's existing Jump permissions. Firms keep control of recording, consent, retention and their own supervision and recordkeeping.
What it costs: according to Kitces, Claude for Financial Advisors requires Anthropic's Enterprise plan, with a 20-seat minimum at $20 a seat a month (at least $400 a month), plus usage that Anthropic put at about $70 to $120 per user a month. Kitces estimated $5,500 to $6,500 a year for a solo advisor (Kitces). Schwab's announcement didn't mention a separate Schwab fee. We compare it with other advisor AI agents in AI agents for financial advisors.
What to check before you connect Schwab data
- Regulation S-P. Connecting Claude to Schwab makes Anthropic a service provider with access to customer information. Under the amended Regulation S-P, you need to oversee it and have incident notification terms in place. See Regulation S-P and your AI vendors.
- Use the business plan. Free and consumer versions of AI chatbots may use inputs for training. Paid business tiers typically don't (Kitces). Only connect client data through your firm's enterprise account.
- Keep records. If Claude drafts client emails or meeting notes, those may be records you need to keep. Decide where prompts and outputs are archived. See AI notetakers and SEC/FINRA recordkeeping.
- Expect exam questions on supervision. The SEC's 2026 exam priorities include how firms train staff and control AI risks, and Kitces reports examiners are asking how firms train and supervise employees on AI. See SEC 2026 exam priorities and AI.
- Review Ester's output before you rely on it. It can read trusts and wills, but estate documents need an attorney's interpretation. Use it to prepare questions for the client's estate attorney, not to replace them.
- Know Schwab's stakes. Schwab has invested in Wealth.com and Nevis. Factor that in when you compare their tools with competitors'.
- Don't let AI make the recommendation. Use AI for prep, summaries and drafts. Recommendations must stay in the client's best interest and be your own.
Should you try it? Ester is the easy one: it's free until February, and it's useful for estate and tax prep work. Just keep client documents within what your firm's policy allows. Claude for Financial Advisors is a bigger decision because of the Enterprise minimum. It's best suited to firms that already pay for Claude, or that have enough advisors to fill 20 seats.
