What happened: on October 15, 2026, Vertafore made two AI agents generally available for independent agencies:
- Velocity Policy Intake Agent: reads policy documents and enters the data into your agency management system.
- Velocity Policy Check Agent: compares issued policies against your records and flags mismatches.
Both are available now in AMS360, and Policy Intake is in early access for Sagitta (Vertafore via PR Newswire; AgencyEquity). They're part of the Velocity AI platform Vertafore introduced at its Accelerate 2026 conference in April, where it launched six AI agents (Vertafore).
Why it matters: policy entry and policy checking are some of the most time-consuming service work in a P&C agency. They're also where errors cause E&O exposure. These are among the first AI agents built into a mainstream agency management system that do the work and update records, not just answer questions, with a human approving each change.
The four Velocity agents at a glance

| Agent | What it does | Where | Status | Vendor-claimed savings |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Policy Intake | Extracts policy data from documents, maps it to AMS fields, flags what's new, changed, missing or conflicting, then files the documents | AMS360 (AgencyOne); Sagitta early access | Generally available Oct 15, 2026 | Up to 87% less time to create and review a commercial property and GL package |
| Policy Check | Compares the issued policy with AMS data and source documents, flags mismatches and recommends corrections | AMS360 | Generally available Oct 15, 2026 | Up to 90% less policy-checking time per line |
| Document Intelligence | Pulls answers from documents in ImageRight into one consolidated response | ImageRight | Released September 2026 | Up to 90% less document review time |
| Coach | Answers how-to and product questions using documentation and your SOPs | AMS360, Sagitta | Early fall 2026 | Up to 88% less time searching for answers |

How the human approval works
This is the most important detail for compliance. According to Vertafore:
- Policy Intake: the agent proposes updates and the user chooses what to approve. Only then does it update the AMS and file the documents.
- Policy Check: the agent flags mismatches and recommends fixes. The user decides which corrections to approve. The agent applies them, sets suspenses where needed and records the review history.
That approval step matters because the agency stays responsible for its records and its coverage review. It's also what regulators are moving toward: the NAIC's model bulletin expects human oversight of AI decisions, and those expectations reach agencies through carrier contracts (our NAIC bulletin guide).
Applied is moving the same way
Vertafore isn't alone. At Applied Net 2026, Applied Systems showed a Control Panel for governing AI agents, with standard workflows, configurable custom playbooks, supervision modes that set how much human oversight applies, and traceable agent identities that show which agent acted and in which workflow (ReSource Pro). Availability and pricing weren't stated. For Applied Epic users, see our Applied Epic and Conductor guide.

Questions to ask Vertafore before switching it on
- What does it cost? The announcement doesn't mention pricing. Ask whether it's included in your AMS360 subscription or priced per use.
- Which lines of business are supported? The published savings figures are for commercial property and general liability packages.
- What happens to the documents? Ask where processing happens, how long data is kept, and whether your data trains Vertafore's or a third party's models.
- What's logged? Make sure every AI-proposed change and every approval is recorded, which matters for E&O.
- Who reviews? Decide which staff can approve agent changes, and spot-check a sample each month.
Will this replace account managers?
Not on this evidence. Both agents need a person to approve changes, and Vertafore's CEO framed the push around agencies' "expertise, judgment and trusted relationships" (FinTech Global). The likelier change is that each account manager handles more policies, with more time for coverage conversations. That's consistent with the BLS outlook in will AI replace insurance agents?
