Short answer: for most shops with 1 to about 15 technicians, Housecall Pro is the better fit. It publishes its prices (from $59 a month), has no long-term contract, offers a free trial, and includes AI assistants on every plan. ServiceTitan is built for larger, multi-truck operations. It has deeper reporting, payroll, memberships and the most ambitious AI agents in the trades, but it doesn't publish prices, and third-party estimates put it at $245–$500 per technician per month plus implementation, usually on a 12-month contract.

That doesn't change our verdicts: we still recommend Jobber over Housecall Pro for many solo operators. Our method.

Pricing: what you'll actually pay

Screenshot: ServiceTitan's pricing page lists three packages and per-technician pricing but no prices, captured October 20, 2026.

Housecall Pro publishes three plans (Housecall Pro pricing):

  • Basic: $59/mo on annual billing ($79 month to month), 1 user. Scheduling, dispatch, estimates, invoicing, payments, price book, job costing, review management.
  • Essentials: $149/mo ($189), 5 users. Adds routes, flat-rate pricing, checklists, GPS tracking, commissions and QuickBooks Online sync.
  • Max: $299/mo ($329), 8 users, $35 per extra user. Adds the sales proposal tool, recurring service plans, route optimization, API access and a dedicated onboarding specialist.

Several add-ons (CSR AI calls, payroll, accounting, Voice, websites) need a demo for pricing. Card processing starts "as low as 2.59%."

ServiceTitan lists three packages, Starter, Essentials and The Works, priced per technician, but every one says "Request Pricing" (ServiceTitan pricing). Independent analyses estimate $245–$500 per technician per month: roughly $245–$300 for Starter, $300–$400 for Essentials and $400–$500 for The Works. One-time implementation is reported at $5,000 to $50,000+, and contracts are typically 12 months (FieldCompare; ITQlick). These are reported figures, not a rate card, so get a written quote.

What that means for a 5-technician shop (our maths):

Housecall Pro Essentials ServiceTitan (reported range)
Monthly $149 (annual billing, 5 users) $1,225–$2,500
First year, software only $1,788 $14,700–$30,000
Plus Add-ons you choose Implementation ($5,000+) and add-ons

ITQlick's estimate for 5 technicians is the same $14,700–$30,000 a year (ITQlick). The gap is large, but so is the difference in what you get. ServiceTitan includes payroll management, advanced reporting and membership tools that Housecall Pro either sells as add-ons or doesn't offer at the same depth.

Who ServiceTitan is really built for

ServiceTitan's own numbers show how large its typical customer is. In fiscal 2026 (to January 31, 2026), about 10,800 active customers invoiced $82.1 billion through the platform (ServiceTitan results via Finviz). That works out to an average of roughly $7.6 million in invoices per customer (our calculation). For a shop doing $500,000 a year, ServiceTitan's per-technician price and implementation cost are hard to justify.

AI features compared

Screenshot: Housecall Pro's add-ons, including CSR AI call answering, on its pricing page, captured October 20, 2026.

Housecall Pro's AI Team is included on every plan (Housecall Pro AI Team):

  • CSR AI: answers website chat (included). 24/7 call answering is a paid add-on, and text answering is "coming soon."
  • Analyst AI: answers questions about revenue, job trends and team performance, and builds custom reports.
  • Coach AI: recommendations on growth, pricing and hiring.
  • Marketing AI: drafts emails, campaigns and service descriptions.

ServiceTitan goes further toward agents that do the work. At Pantheon on October 6, 2026, it made its Max AI package available to all residential contractors, launched an Atlas mobile app for owners, and introduced Homh, which lets homeowners and their AI assistants (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude) book selected ServiceTitan contractors (ServiceTitan). Our ServiceTitan Atlas, Max and Homh guide covers what each does.

Verdict on AI: Housecall Pro gives smaller shops useful AI at no extra cost. ServiceTitan's agents are more ambitious, but they pay off most when you have the call volume, dispatch complexity and data to feed them. For AI call answering specifically, compare both with standalone options in our AI receptionist guide and cost calculator.

ServiceTitan Trustpilot reviewers, August–October 2026 (paraphrased)

Onboarding data transfers dragged on for months, the contract left little room to leave, and add-on fees made it cost-prohibitive for a small business.

ServiceTitan Trustpilot reviewers, October 2026 (paraphrased)

Housecall Pro scores 2.9 from 696 reviews (56% five-star, 26% one-star). Trustpilot notes it hasn't recently invited customers to review, so the sample may skew negative (Trustpilot).

Affordable and easy to use for scheduling, invoicing and estimates, and the company listens to feedback and keeps improving.

Housecall Pro Trustpilot reviewers, October 2026 (paraphrased)

Prices have risen, add-on pricing needs a sales call, and support has become more scripted and automated.

Housecall Pro Trustpilot reviewers, October 2026 (paraphrased)

The pattern: ServiceTitan's complaints cluster around cost, contracts and onboarding, which matters most for smaller firms. Housecall Pro's cluster around price rises, add-on pricing and support.

Which should you choose?

Choose Housecall Pro if you…

  • Run 1–15 technicians
  • Want published prices and no long-term contract
  • Want AI assistants included at no extra cost
  • Want to start this week with a free trial

Choose ServiceTitan if you…

  • Run roughly 20+ technicians or multiple locations
  • Need payroll, memberships and advanced reporting in one system
  • Have the volume to use AI dispatch and booking agents
  • Can budget for implementation and a 12-month contract

Before you sign either:

  1. Get add-on prices in writing, including AI call answering and payment processing.
  2. For ServiceTitan, ask about term length, renewal price caps and the cancellation notice period before signing. Reviewers' biggest regrets are about contracts.
  3. Test AI call answering yourself with an after-hours emergency call and a routine booking, and check the call recording rules in your states.
  4. Consider the third option. If you're solo or a two-person crew, Jobber starts at $29 a month.

FAQ
