Short answer: if you already use Jobber, its AI Receptionist add-on at $29 a month is the cheapest way to stop missing calls, because bookings land straight in your schedule. If you don't want to switch software, Rosie is a standalone AI answering service from $49 a month for 250 minutes, with a 7-day free trial. Housecall Pro includes "AI team members" on every plan, but its recent reviews are the weakest here, so trial it carefully.

Prices checked October 13, 2026 on Rosie, Jobber and Housecall Pro.

1. Jobber AI Receptionist: best value if you use Jobber

Price: Jobber's software starts at $29/month (Core, one user, billed annually) and runs to $529/month for 15 users on Plus. The AI Receptionist is a $29/month add-on, and the Plus plan description suggests it's built in there. Extra users are $29 a month each (Jobber pricing).

Because the receptionist lives inside the same system as your schedule and quotes, a caller can become a booked visit without you retyping anything. That's the main reason to choose it over a standalone service.

What users say: Jobber scores 4.2 from 231 Trustpilot reviews, 120 of them in the last year, and replies to 96% of negative reviews (Trustpilot). Support staff get consistent praise. The main complaints are rising prices and key features locked to higher tiers, plus gaps in reporting.

Support agents are patient and know the product, and the team acts on feedback.

Prices keep going up, and the features you need are on the expensive plans.

2. Rosie: best standalone AI receptionist

Price: Professional $49/month (250 minutes), Scale $149 (1,000 minutes, direct calendar booking and live transfers) and Growth $299 (2,000 minutes, waterfall transfers, custom training from your documents). Annual billing saves about two months. There's a 7-day free trial (Rosie pricing).

Rosie trains itself from your Google Business Profile and website, answers in English and Spanish, handles simultaneous calls, and sends call summaries, transcripts and recordings by text or email. Note that Rosie records calls, which brings in state recording-consent rules (see below). The Professional plan only sends booking links, so if you want the AI to put jobs directly on your calendar, you need Scale.

The pricing page doesn't state overage rates for going past your minutes, so ask before you pick a tier.

3. Housecall Pro: all-in-one, but check the reviews

Price: Basic $59, Essentials $149 (5 users) and Max $299 (8 users) per month billed annually, or $79–$329 monthly. "AI team members" are listed on every plan, and CSR AI (24/7 call and chat answering) is an add-on whose price isn't shown on the pricing page (Housecall Pro pricing).

What users say: Housecall Pro has the largest review base here and the lowest score: 2.8 from 690 Trustpilot reviews, with 26% one-star (Trustpilot). Reviewers like the scheduling, estimates and invoicing. Recent complaints focus on support (slow, mostly AI-driven answers, a phone-number port taking months), confusing interface changes and glitches.

Strengths

  • Full field-service platform
  • AI features across all plans
  • Strong scheduling and invoicing, per users

Watch out for

  • Weak recent support reviews
  • CSR AI price not published

FAQ

How many minutes does an AI receptionist need?

At around 3 minutes a call, Rosie's 250-minute plan covers roughly 80 calls a month and the 1,000-minute plan about 330. Check your phone records for last month's call count and length.

Will customers know it's AI?

Modern AI voices are convincing, but telling callers up front builds trust, and some state rules on recording and disclosure make it the safer choice.

Can the AI quote prices?

It can share price ranges you give it (call-out fees, for example). Leave firm quotes to a human or your estimating software.
